Transferring your accounts
from Exact Online to Odoo

Switching to a different accounting package is often no easy task. The change brings with it a great deal of hassle, and a smooth migration is therefore essential to ensure business continuity. 01 Data migration

When transferring your accounts, your first thought is probably to export and import them step by step using Excel. However, this carries a high risk of manual errors. Our data migration service ensures that the data is transferred on a one-to-one basis.

The following datasets will be transferred in full from your old Exact Online accounts to your new Odoo accounts:

• Companies are being taken over as part of the deal.
• Previous financial years will be imported into the system. Your historical data will not be lost in your new Odoo environment.
• General ledger accounts and journals for your business.
• Entries are imported along with their respective attachments. This means that, just as in Exact Online, you will be able to view your attachment alongside your entry.
• Assets will also be transferred if you were using it with Exact Online.

Transferring data is often not difficult, but transferring accounts accurately and in full certainly is.

02 Process integration

Unlike Exact Online, Odoo’s underlying code is entirely open source. In other words, this means that any programmer with some experience can customise Odoo entirely to their own requirements. This ensures that if the standard Odoo is too limited, you can add features relatively easily.

As Odoo is a modular ERP system, it ensures that it grows alongside your needs. This goes beyond simply keeping the accounts. It also covers areas such as marketing, human resources, stock management, etc.

03 Reporting

Both packages provide the standard reports you would expect from any modern accounting package. These include reports such as the profit and loss account, balance sheet, general ledger and tax returns. Whilst, in our view, Exact Online is largely limited to these standard features, Odoo goes a step further in this respect.

Odoo offers users additional options in this regard by processing available data into various reports. For example, you can create pivot tables based on multiple dimensions, customise reports and add your own comments to them. You can also define and customise KPIs yourself within the system.

Although both packages therefore provide more than enough of the necessary standard reports, Odoo allows you to access further information directly within the software package. You do not need to purchase any additional applications or licences to do so.
